Change of Heart

The telephone rang, it was you
Calling to say you’d had a change of heart.
Were you giving me a test?
Trying to find out if, and how much
I really cared,

Or was it just a ploy, to hurt me
When I was so far down that I could fall
No lower? If it was a test, I failed,
Or perhaps I passed, because I couldn’t take
Your change of heart.
