not everyone is ready for spring

the earth is dressed in
a song of white,
some people are unhappy;
but i consider it a blessing—

not everyone is ready
for spring and flowers and
birdsongs,

some of us find blessings in
the softness and solace of the
silence in winter;

i have heard too many happy songs
when i am somber so let me cling to these
last lyrics of diamonds and coldness
as i wrap myself up cozy in blankets,
drifting away into worlds of my own creation.
